Alice’s wish inspires her to give back

Seventeen-year-old Alice, living with a life-threatening neurologic condition, still thinks back to the wonder of swimming with a dolphin during her 2018 wish to go to Hawaii.

Granting wishes brings Slalom consultants together

When Slalom first got involved with Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington, they knew they’d be helping local kids with critical illnesses. What they didn’t expect is how quickly their support would bring their employees together. Watch to see more.

Wish Family Alumni program launches!

Miguel wished to go to Hawaii for a first-ever family vacation, and he describes the experience as life-affirming, inspiring and providing a “moment of realization.”

Wish families know firsthand the incredible power of a wish, and they know the impact of a wish continues long after a wish has been granted. That’s why we’ve started a Wish Family Alumni group– a place for families to connect, share stories and memories and help make wishes come true for other eligible children.

Have you received a wish or know someone who has? Tell them about our new Wish Family Alumni program via email or connect with us online!

See you at Happiness Hour!

Volunteers make a difference in every town

In Grant County, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington granted six wishes last year. Henry is one of two volunteers in the county, meaning that children must wait longer to receive their wishes. As the only bilingual volunteer in the area, wish-granting volunteer Henry helps us reach children we would not otherwise be able to.

Henry enjoys any opportunity to share about Make-A-Wish with everyone he meets. Henry is proud to positively impact lives of local families in his small Central Washington town.

“You never imagine that (critical illness) could happen to people so close to home. You don’t realize there are so many kids fighting for their lives.”

-Wish-granting volunteer Henry

“All kids matter,” he said. “No one should be excluded from the opportunity to feel normal.” By speaking a family’s native language, Henry finds that fear of the unknown dissolves and friendships are born.

Henry is on a quest to bring more awareness of Make-A-Wish to small communities by encouraging others to volunteer. “Being able to grant a wish is inspirational,” he said.

We need more wish-granting volunteers than ever before, all over our territory. Refer a friend and contact Juli McClave to get started today!

Thank you for supporting Trips that Transform!

On November 5 at WOW: Wonder of Wishes Luncheon, wish alum Peter shared how his wish inspired him to pursue a medical career to help others facing the same life-changing diagnosis he once fought, like wish kid Noelia.

Funds raised at the event will help kids like Peter and Noelia see the impossible as possible when their wishes come true.

Did you miss WOW this year? You can still help grant wishes by donating online today!

Save the date for next year’s WOW  luncheon on October 22, 2020.
