You gave TJ hope

When 18-old TJ told his mom, Meribeth, that he wanted to swim with the whale sharks, she was in shock. “I didn’t even realize that was a possibility,” said Meribeth.

But once TJ met his wish-granting volunteers, he soon learned that he’d be able to visit the Georgia Aquarium to have his wish granted.

TJ and his family hold a Make-A-Wish banner outside the dive tank at the Georgia Aquarium.

“Having his wish granted gave TJ a lot of hope. He was overjoyed to get the experience, but it also made him understand that someone else believed in his dreams and his future, and that his desire to be a marine biologist could really come true.”

Subaru is a star for local wish kids

During the 2017 Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru of America, Inc. will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased between Nov. 16-Jan. 2 with a minimum donation of $250,000 to the purchaser’s choice of participating charities, including Make-A-Wish nationally.

Ryan raises his arms in celebration on the beach in Hawaii.

Our interactions with the Subaru team really demonstrated to me what an incredible philanthropic culture they have as a company. They aren’t running the Share the Love event each year as an advertising campaign, they really are doing it to help kids like Ryan.”

Nancy makes wishes come true in two ways and so can you!

Wish-granting volunteer and donor Nancy Collier knew about Make-A-Wish for years. When her husband died in 2015, Nancy wanted to get more involved.

Like many people, Nancy wanted to give to an organization with a powerful mission and strong financial management. After researching organizations online, she chose Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington and helps to grant wishes by donating through her IRA rollover account.

For more information, please contact Asa Tate, director of philanthropy and mission advancement at 206.588.8960.
